Guy Ramsey reports for CoachCal.com that Calipari had NBA Player’s Association President, Billy Hunter, speak to the team prior to the SEC Tourney to help them focus on the task at hand.
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Arial][I]Calipari wants his team to have a laser-like focus on the task at hand. He doesn’t want them worrying about next season or the NBA Draft early-entry deadline that has been moved up to early April.[/I][/FONT][/COLOR]
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Arial][I]To help with that, Calipari called on an unlikely resource.[/I][/FONT][/COLOR]
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Arial][I]“I brought Billy Hunter in from the NBA Players Association to basically tell the kids, ‘You together, collectively, have a chance to do something special,” Calipari said.[/I][/FONT][/COLOR]
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Arial][I]The time will come to think about the future, and for many Wildcats that future will include being represented by Hunter, the NBAPA’s executive director, but that time is not now.[/I][/FONT][/COLOR]
[COLOR=#444444][FONT=Arial][I]“ ‘Worry about this,’ ” Calipari said, recounting Hunter’s message. “ ’And no one other than yourself can help you with anything after this year, so you have to do it. So there’s no reason to be talking, thinking – just do your thing. You help yourself and don’t worry about anything else.’ ”[/I][/FONT][/COLOR]
Everyone in the BBN wants this title so bad they can taste it, but if you think there is anyone who wants to cut those nets down more than John Calipari, you should probably talk to a professional yourself.
