After telling everyone about his commitment to the Wildcats over the weekend, new junior college defensive back commit Kory Brown decided to take the time to discuss his decision with us. The versatile defender comes in under a lot of adversity. After not qualifying academically after high school, Brown said “the schools just shied away from me.”
While that may not be the case now: however, the early-enrollee for the Cats expressed how blessed he is to be a Wildcat.
“When I arrived for my visit I was speechless. I’ve been to many places and on visits before, but there was something about Kentucky that made me feel at home.”
Listed at six-foot-one, 201-pounds, the junior college transfer will have three years of eligibility left to play, as well as spring practice. But what does Brown want everyone else to know?
“I want the fans to know that I’ve worked hard for everything I got. I want to keep working and make the fans happy.”
Brown doesn’t seem to have a question mark about his work ethic at the moment: However, the main question mark is mainly about his knee? The JC sophomore recently tore his ACL and has had to prove everyone wrong once already, now it will be his time to shine again as he tries to show why he can step up for the validated hybrid safety/linebacker position once held by All-SEC defender Winston Guy.
“South Carolina wanted me to stay another year of junior college. They said they would probably offer if I met what they were looking for after coming back from the injury, but I just really clicked with everyone at Kentucky.”
But what does Brown have to say about his future head coach?
“He (Joker) is an amazing guy. Usually on visits you don’t really get to talk to the head coach a whole lot, but on this one I got to talk to him most of the time. I just felt this place was right for me.”
What is the key for Brown? His enrollment in January will be key for him. He said he wants to come in and learn the system, and get ready to play this off-season and spring.
For Brown, as well as Kentucky, the future Cat brings a long with him a great attitude. He also said he tries to help out with people as much as he can. Look for a successful career for Brown as well as the rest of the ’12 recruiting class Joker is trying to bring in.
