Kentucky Wins Battle with Old Dominion

In a game with 3 technicals, and several altercations, the Kentucky Wildcats held off Old Dominion for a 62-52 victory at the Hall of Fame Tip Off Classic.

Darius Miller, who did not score yesterday vs. Penn State, scored 13 points off the bench and added 5 assists and 3 rebounds.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist also had 13 points, 9 rebounds to pick up the slack down in the paint for Terrence Jones who had a subpar outing.

Jones finishes with only 6 points on 3-10 from the field, but did finish with 8 rebounds.

Anthony Davis finished with 11 points but fouled out with 4 min left in the game. He also had 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.

Marquis Teague struggled again with turnovers, making 6 mistakes, and finished with only 4 assists. Teagues scored 6 points on 3-5 from the field.

Doron Lamb wasn’t as precise with his shot as he was yesterday, where he lit it up with 26 points. He finished with only 8 points today, on 2-7 shooting, and both baskets were from behind the arc.

The rest of the scoring: Wiltjer 3, Vargas 2.

This will be a game the Cats will need to learn from as Old Dominion’s zone really caused the Cats problems throughout the game.

When Kentucky is not hitting shots from the outside it will be tough to score when they have to run a half court set. If the defense isn’t getting block shots or causing turnovers to get out in transition then games like these are going to be the norm of the opponent to try and slow the Cats down.

The Cats will have a little rest now until they host Radford in Rupp Arena on Wednesday.
