Kenny Payne has been getting a lot of pub lately due to his name being mentioned for coaching vacancies in the state of Mississippi.
Kenny has been recently mentioned as a possible candidate for the Southern Mississippi job, which opened up recently when Larry Eustachy went to Colorado State.
It isn’t hard to figure out why Southern Miss would be interested, especially since Payne introduced Anthony Davis to John Calipari.
This from HattiesburgAmerican.com:
[I]Payne’s reputation as one of the nation’s top recruiters proved to be well-deserved when he helped Kentucky head coach John Calipari land prized prospect Anthony Davis last offseason.
Davis was recently awarded the Final Four Most Valuable Player award.
“When I got (to Kentucky two years ago) I showed coach Cal the tape of Anthony, and he liked what he saw,” Payne said.
“Our dilemma was, ‘What have we got here?’ We had a big ball of clay and had to figure it out.”

I think you would agree that they molded the ball of clay nicely.
