The recruiting landscape was drastically altered late Wednesday night when Dave Telep of ESPN tweeted that Nerlens Noel would be reclassifying to 2012.
Noel, a 6’10” center from New Hampshire, was widely considered to be one of the top three players in 2013.
2012 was actually Noel’s original classification. He reclassified to 2013 earlier in high school because of an injury that had cost him a substantial amount of time developmentally.
Noel finally decided to revert back to his original class because he felt that he was ready to play at the next level. Most analysts would likely agree—in fact, he will likely give Shabazz Muhammad a run for his money for the No. 1 player of 2012 when all is said and done.
Noel told Telep that Syracuse, UConn, Providence, Kentucky, Florida, Georgetown and North Carolina are currently in the mix for him.
Kentucky has long been believed to be one of the favorites for Noel’s services, along with Syracuse and Providence. His move back to 2012 shouldn’t change much in that regard.
