There were multiple injuries reported and several students sent to the hospital after railing collapsed during St. X’s 1-0 win over Trinity in the 7th Region soccer tournament last night at Waggener High School.
Video shows St. X players and fans celebrating after a game-winning penalty kick. During the celebration, the railing failed, causing fans to spill onto the field.

Reporting after the collapse suggests that at least five teens (fans and players) were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from concussions to broken bones.
Saturday’s 7th Region championship game between St. X and Collegiate has been moved from Waggener to Ballard High School.

St. X’s athletic director Chris Tinius said several St. X players and fans were injured. He said all of the students and players have non-life-threatening injuries.
The soccer team also shared a post online saying it is quote “deeply saddened by the sudden injuries that occurred while celebrating the team.”
WLKY has reached out to JCPS for more information, but they did not have any details about injuries or how many people were hurt.
They did say those bleachers were inspected on Sept. 5 by the Department of Codes and Regulations and were found to be in compliance.
