LSU is Reportedly Firing Head Coach Brian Kelly

One day after losing 49-25 to Texas A&M, LSU has informed head coach Brian Kelly that they intend to fire him.

According to a report by ESPN, Kelly is owed more than $54 million in buyout money.

ESPN also reports that Frank Wilson, LSU associate head coach, will take over as interim head coach.

Here is an excerpt:

Talks about the terms of his departure are expected to continue, and the situation remains in flux following the Tigers’ 49-25 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday night in Baton Rouge. Kelly is owed just over $54 million in buyout money, and that looms as one of the issues in the discussions.

Kelly left the office early Sunday afternoon, and did not return, sources told ESPN. The Tigers are on a bye week, so attendance of some staff was optional.

Frank Wilson, LSU’s associate head coach and running backs coach, will take over the team as interim head coach, sources told ESPN, confirming reports. The Tigers next play on Nov. 8, taking on No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
