Michael Kidd-Gilchrist said when asked about being the leader of this year’s squad;
“I don’t get into all that. I’m just a winner. That’s it.” “I’m ready to lead, I’m a freshman, but so what. I’m just ready to lead and win. I’ve always been that way.”

The Kidd from New Jersey with the sleepy demeanor and childlike quality (until he steps on the court) has slowly emerged as a humble, actions not words, leader and force on this Wildcats team.
He has been pulling down one double-double after another and somehow, even flying under the radar of some opposing coaches. How’d that work out for you Loyola?
Our own K-G is a runaway as first half MVP on this website’s poll.
The number fourteen on his chest always makes me think of another scrappy athlete who wore the same number for the Cincinnati Reds in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
While other talented players seem to struggle with the microscope of Kentucky Basketball and their own personal issues , Kidd-Gilchrist perseveres through real adversity such as family illness, and brings the same level of intensity gme in and game out.
So what is the point of my gushing, rambling article here, MKG for president? No thats Cal, my point is the biggest question on each of Cal’s teams thus far is, who will lead the young mass of talent to the promised land and deliver #8? MKG, period.
