In Saturday’s showdown with North Carolina, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist drove the lane in heavy traffic and as he elevated to the rim, he felt a striking blow to his left arm. Gilchrist fell to the floor and the UK faithful gasped in horror.
As moments passed, anxiety in the arena grew. And when Gillie got to his feet and walked back to the bench with a distended, limp left arm, a tense game became almost a secondary concern.
Shortly after, Kidd-Gilchrist returned to the game showing no signs of injury. So what was all the writhing and the alien looking limb about anyways?
It turns out Michael had dislocated his left shoulder and popped it back in, himself, right there on the Kentucky bench.
As they say in boxing, this ‘Kidd’ is tough as nails and he is going to be champion of the world some day…that day will likely be in early April, 2012 if you ask me.
