LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball setter Kassie O’Brien won her third-straight Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honor, the league announced Monday as she was given the hardware after a 2-0 week in which the Wildcats beat No. 9 Texas A&M in College Station and LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
O’Brien had two 40-assist performances this week as she averaged 12.57 assists per set on the week with 48 dimes dished in a 3-1 win at No. 9 Texas A&M on Wednesday and a 40-assist show Sunday at LSU. O’Brien’s week marks the first time in her career that she’s pushed out two 40-plus assists matches consecutively and her 48-assist match at LSU was just one off of her career high 49 set in a 3-1 win over No. 10 SMU last month.
O’Brien pushed Kentucky’s offense to the tune of .256 hitting on the week with her third-career double-double logged Wednesday in her homecoming at Texas A&M in Reed Arena with a block in each match played this week, as well. O[Brien now has 11-straight 30+ assist matches that she has put together for the Wildcats.
UK will open a two-match homestand Wednesday night as it plays Auburn at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are available at UKathletics.com/tickets.
