John Calipari Posts Message About Brad Calipari Graduating

John Calipari posted a blog on CoachCal.com tonight about his son, Brad, graduating in a few days.

Brad is graduating college, but still has two seasons of eligibility remaining to play basketball.

Is it possible that he will consider playing at a different school?

Check out Coach Cal’s comments about his son:

My baby son is graduating from the University of Kentucky on Friday, May 3. He’s in a really great situation, where he has eligibility remaining and an opportunity to continue his education over the next two years, but this is still a big day for our family.

Ellen and I could not be more proud of the young man Brad has grown to be. He knows what it means to be committed and driven toward a goal. He’s humble when he wins and he learns from failure as much as he does from winning.

For me as a father, to be able to be with my son the last three years, to have him in every practice, to watch him play in games, to travel with him across the country, has been a true blessing. The profession I’m in takes you away from your family, but this has brought us together. My hope is that the lessons he’s learned by being part of our program, which is about A CULTURE, are as valuable as what he’s learned in the classroom.

It’s not about promises. It’s not about making things easy for young people. It’s about preparing you for the rest of your life and preparing you for a world where nothing is given to you. You must fight for what you want and fight to keep what you have. You must seek opportunities to learn and welcome the tough lessons that sometimes come with it. Things happen fast on the basketball court, but they happen even faster off the court. Our culture tries to create an environment where you’re comfortable being uncomfortable.
