According to ESPN’s FPI formula, Kentucky (7-1) is not a top 25 college football team.
The Cats are currently tied with Georgia for best record (5-1) in the Southeastern Conference standings. Additionally, Kentucky has wins over three teams currently ranked in the top 25 of FPI: LSU (5), Texas A&M (23) and South Carolina (25).
What might be even crazier is the top of the FPI ranking. Notre Dame is currently No. 1 followed by Ohio State, which lost last night to No. 15 USC. Wake Forest, which has zero wins against ranked teams this season, is No. 11 in FPI.
It might be time to scrap the equation and start over.
