The details of Kentucky’s negotiated buyout of Mark Stoops’ contract were revealed on Monday.
Stoops will be paid a total of $37,687,500 over the course of the next six years.
The first payment to Stoops will be due next week in the amount of $3,937,500.
After that, there will be five more payments beginning July 1, 2026 and ending Jan. 31, 2031. Each of the five payments will be $6,750,000.

Believe it or not, Kentucky will be paying Stoops more than current head coach Will Stein over the next five years.

5 years, $28.5 million
Year 1: $5.5 mil
Year 2: $5.6 mil
Year 3: $5.7 mil
Year 4: $5.8 mil
