Former Lexington Herald-Leader sports columnist and Courier-Journal editor Billy Reed is well known for his controversial takes on various subjects, but last night was a low ball move even for Reed.
Reed decided to inexplicably take an unnecessary cheap shot at former Kentucky head coach Joe B. Hall on the day of his death.

“I respect Joe B. Hall, thank him for his contributions to UK basketball and am happy to see him fondly remembered,” Reed began (you just knew the controversial “but” was coming next. “Still, we should never be overcome by revisionist history. During his time at UK, he was not as good as Denny Crum or Bobby Knight. And he knew it. Nobody seriously wants to debate that, right?”
It’s fine to have a controversial take about someone (for example, I think Billy Reed is a Hall of Fame sports columnist, but also a shitty human being), but it’s not okay to post that on the day of a person passing away. Stay classy Billy.
