Big Blue Madness Worth the Money?

Yep, that’s me.

Yahoo.com looks at the cost of Big Blue Madness and asks if the price tag of $200,000 was worth it.

Which one of these statements is harder to believe?

A. That it reportedly cost Kentucky $200,000 to stage this past Friday’s Big Blue Madness event?

B. That it was still almost undeniably worth the money?

Spending $200,000 may seem exorbitant since the school can’t even charge admission to a “practice,” but the makeshift stage, Hollywood-style lights and professionally made videos were a good investment because of the exposure Kentucky gained from the event.
Big Blue Madness was one of eight Midnight Madness events televised nationally on ESPNU and ESPN3.com. More than 500 tents worth of people camped out for three days to get choice seats to see it up close. And most importantly, Kentucky had seven top 30 prospects on hand to see the spectacle in person including Shabazz Muhammad, the nation’s No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2012.

”It’s crazy,” Muhammad told Scout.com. “The fans there are great. Their fan base is really supportive and their guys had a lot of fun and I had a lot of fun watching them. I really enjoyed myself.”

In my opinion, the Muhammad statement is worth a whole lot more than $200,000.
