UConn transfer Alex Oriakhi announced today that he will be headed to Missouri for his senior year of college.
Oriakhi’s commitment came before he had the opportunity to visit Kentucky, which he had scheduled for sometime next week.
Oriakhi passing over UK doesn’t come as too much of a surprise after the commitment of Nerlens Noel. Oriakhi said early on that he was looking for a place where he could start and receive major minutes. Kentucky most likely wouldn’t have been able to provide him with the type of playing time he was looking for.
“Obviously it’s a simple fact that they don’t have any big men, and I can play with a pass-first point guard,” Oriakhi told CBSSports.com. “I just felt comfortable.”
With Oriakhi now gone, the Kentucky staff should be all in on 2012 forward Anthony Bennett. You would have to imagine that the staff’s interest in Amile Jefferson should pick back up as well.
