Western Kentucky, who just recently joined Division 1 football, is a 18 point underdog(Bodog.com) to the University of Kentucky tonight in Nashville tonight.
[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] Western is coming off a 2 win campaign in the Sun Belt Conference and one would think, besides running back Bobby Rainey, the Hilltoppers are less talented overall than the Wildcats.
Why would a SEC team who has been to 5 consecutive bowl games not be at least a 3 touchdown favorite vs a bottom dweller in the Sun Belt?
My guess is the unknown.
Kentucky lost every offensive threat from last year’s team, and the defense last year was miserable giving up 354 yards per game.
Vegas knows Kentucky traditionally struggles in the first half, and if Rainey gets going this one could be closer than expected(Mack Perkins thinks it will be close).
I wouldn’t think this game will be that close…Morgan Newton is primed to shine and I look for our core of running backs to hold their own as well.
Stopping Rainey might be an issue early on, but hopefully Nuclear Minter will take over and the defense will keep him in check.
My prediction is definitely take the points….Kentucky will win 45-17.
What is your prediction and I don’t want to hear I just want them to win….if Kentucky doesn’t win by 3 or more touchdowns it is going to be a looooong season.
