Should I Stay or Should I Go?

The NBA Draft is June 28th. The NCAA’s deadline for entry in the draft is tomorrow, April 10th. The NBA’s deadline to enter the draft is April 29th and the NBA says a player may not withdrawl after June 18th. Confused yet? Can you imagine if you had to make a decision about your future based on this time table?

Here’s a look at each of UK’s underclassmen’s prospects for the Draft, according to me.

Anthony Davis: You kidding me? This kid is gone like John Wall on a fast break.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: I hate to say it, because MKG could probably drag a team of JV high school kids to a National Championship, but he is projected as high as #2 overall in the draft. There is just no reason for him to come back.

Terrence Jones: Last year he was projected as high as #10 overall, right now he is hovering around #20. This could be presented as an argument either way. Terrence has an NBA game and people know it. He should have gone last year, and I don’t think he is going to stick around another year to try and boost his stock. Thanks Terrence, for your sophomore season and giving us a National Title on your ‘future’ dime.

Doron Lamb: Some mock’s have Doron going before Terrence Jones, which shocks me. Doron doesn’t have much to his game aside from his shot, and his level of success in the NBA has been widely questioned. Doron should definitely take advantage of his current buzz and make the jump.

Marquis Teague: This is the only real question mark amongst UK’s underclassmen. Marquis’ brother is already a starting point guard in the NBA, and Teague only really started to play to his potential and the expectations of a Calipari point guard towards the end of the season. He is currently projected late first round or lower. Marquis should come back, hang another banner and work his way into the lottery, which he is fully capable of. Next year also looks weaker for point guards and so may be a better opportunity for Teague than this year’s stock of Rivers and Beal.

Well BBN, I’m no Chad Ford, but there’s my two cents (shout out to Chris Minton). What do you guys think?
