Shadrach Thornton Talks about His ‘Hasty’ Decision

After getting their 25th straight loss to the Gators this past Saturday, positives seemed few and far between. However, just as NOB’s own Garrett Tucker wrote about yesterday, the Wildcats did manage to pickup two solid commitments who are highly targeted. One of the two is Liberty County, GA running Shadrach Thornton. Just as Kadeen Thomas pledged this weekend, the power back from the Peach-State followed in his path. But was it Thomas who might have persuaded Thornton himself.

“The linebacker from Tallahassee (Thomas) really influenced me. It was an awesome experienced, and the place where I thought I will live for four years of my life.”

Despite his verbal, Thornton is not finished with his recruitment. The three star back has his eyes set on two important dates. One is coming up weekend to North Carolina State, and second one will be on the 29th of October as he visits the in state Georgia Tech.

” I’m planning on taking the other two visits that I have already set up. After that I’ll hope to know if Kentucky is still the right place. If it is I’ll stick with my decision. But if it’s not I’ll change my mind. I’m going to sit down with my mom and we’ll discuss what’s best.”

When I asked Thornton about a possible return to Kentucky in the future, his simple reply was “Don’t think so.”

Nevertheless, Thornton is still a Kentucky Wildcat, for now. The Liberty County star has already closed in on the 1000 yard mark in less that 100 carries. With such explosiveness, Thornton could really make a impact as a true freshman at UK.

“I’m going to work hard and try my best to touch the field early. If everything goes right I believe I can.”

As for what lead him to UK, Thornton talked about how awesome his weekend in Lexington was.

“My visit was awesome. I loved the energy and Coach Pardue and Coach Phillips are really great as well. Also, the whole team is really fun to be around… ”

As for what Thornton saw on the field, would be what everyone else has been saying.

“It has room to grow…”

The Georgia running back was arguably the top running back on the Cats board. Adding the fact of his pledge, you know the whole staff will be working hard to keep that in place. As for Thornton, he will see what is options are before he makes anything official.
