NBA of the Day

Last night’s NBA action saw two former Cats be “Players of the Game” and two double-doubles. Rajon Rondo and the Celtics came away with a win against the Daniel-Orton-less Magic. Rondo only scored 10 points, but it was on 5 of 6 shooting (no 3-pt attempts or free-throws). He finished with 13 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

Nazr Mohammed (Charlotte) faced off against Jodie Meeks (Philadelphia), with the 76ers coming away with the win, 96-92. Mohammed shot 2 of 5 from the field, missing both of his free-throw attempts for 4 points total. He added 4 rebounds to finish out his stat line. Meeks struggled in that game, shooting only 2 of 7 from the field (1 of 2 from 3-pt land) to finish with 5 points total. He added 1 rebound and finished with a +1 over/under.

Keith Bogans (Chicago) continues to struggle as a starter. His Bulls faced the Memphis Grizzlies last night and came away with a win, 96-84. In 18 minutes of play, Bogans could only muster 1 of 3 shooting (it was a 3-pointer) and 1 of 2 from the line for 4 points total. He also nabbed 4 rebounds and 3 assists for a +6 over/under.

Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons defeated Dallas by a score of 103-89. The former Cat shot a quality 9 of 12 from the field, 1 of 2 from the line for 19 points total. Five rebounds and five assists rounded out his stat line, making Prince the Detroit “Player of the Game.”

Houston (Chuck Hayes, Patrick Patterson) beat Milwaukee 93-84. Patterson is still out with the “upper respiratory distress” he suffered this weekend (flu-like symptoms). Hayes shot 50%, nailing 3 of 6 for 6 points total. Seven rebounds, four assists and 2 blocks helped Hayes finish with a +14 over/under.

Eric Bledsoe and the Clippers are doing well lately, getting a win over the Indiana Pacers. Bledsoe only finished with 2 points, but he made the only field goal he attempted and added 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. An interesting sideline to the Clippers is Blake Griffin’s aptitude for dunking – evidently other teams are not impressed with the rookie’s gumption.

DeMarcus Cousins was the other “Player of the Game”. Even though his Kings lost 98-100 to Atlanta, Cousins was 8 of 19 from the field (4 of 6 from the line) for 20 points on the night. Eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks on this loss gave cousins a final over/under of zero (0).

Finally, John Wall and the Wizards won against the Jazz with Wall scoring another double-double in over 40 minutes of play. Wall was 7 of 12 shooting (58%) and 5 of 7 from the charity stripe (71%) for 19 points on the night. Fifteen assists (that’s not a typo), along with five rebounds and a steal lifted Wall to a +12 over/under.
