Anthony Davis will, in less then a year, wear the jersey that says “Kentucky” across his chest. He’s one of the nations top prospects in the Class of 2011 and is one of the four members of the Number 1 recruiting class of 2011.

It’s pretty much a given, that if you following Kentucky basketball, and I know you do, you already knew all of that, but did you know the following:

[*]A year ago to the day, he was 6-foot-3 with ZERO scholarship offers.
[*]He’s a twin. Sister Antoinnete is 5-8 and she doesn’t hoop
[*]The tallest member of Davis’ family (not including him) is an uncle who is 6-4; dad is 6-3 and mom is 6-1.
[*]His family calls him “Fat Man,” which is ironic since he’s probably got no body at all or at least none to spare. Back in the day he was a fat baby and the name stuck. He tells his pops that he’d prefer to transition to “Anthony” and lose the weighty nickname
[*]Davis’ infatuation with John Calipari started when the coach was at Memphis. An avid watcher of college hoops, his father said he watched a lot of Kentucky, Illinois, Memphis and Ohio State.
[*]The reason he stayed at Perspectives Charter was academics. When the powerhouse public schools called on him, they had no chance. He comes from a family situation committed to academics.
