Freshman Running Back Waiting in the Wings

Yesterday, Coach Randy Sanders gave a little insight into the running back situation for the Western Kentucky game this Thursday night in Nashville.

Sanders said that 2, possibly 3 backs would see the field, and I think one should see most of the carries.

Raymond Sanders should be the guy that sees the abundance of carries.

The new depth chart for this week’s game has freshman Josh Clemons as the #2.

Randy Sanders is very high on Clemons.

“I think he looks pretty good in that #20, so, you know, there is no reason to think a guy that looks that good and keep him on the sideline.”

Sanders also said the 3rd running back was also set.

CoShik Williams has beaten out Jonathan George for the 3rd spot on the depth chart.

Does it matter?

In my opinion, if we have to worry about the 3rd string running back, either Sanders is ineffective or there is an injury that will move Williams up on the pecking order.

I am most looking forward to seeing Josh Clemons, and the possibility of him producing by the time SEC play starts. If Clemons doesn’t do the job Randy Sanders thinks he can do vs. a lesser opponent like Western, Williams will have a shot to move up the charts if he sees time in Nashville.

Basically, Raymond Sanders has his time to shine, and from what it sounds like from Randy Sanders he better perform because he has a freshman waiting in the wings.
