Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Gaining Recognition

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is making a name for himself as an unrelenting player that provides the kind of motor and will to win that is a must for any successful top-tier team.

He was the biggest reason Kentucky had any chance to win Saturday’s game in Bloomington. Dick Vitale repeatedly stated during the broadcast that if he had his pick of any 5 players in the nation, Gillie would have to be in there…baby.

He’s averaging 12.8 pts and 7.3 rbs, keeping up with the likes of Mr. Davis (11.6 and 9.1) in pretty much every category.

Today, the fellas over at CBS sports voted on their collegiate ‘Dream Team' and Mr. K-G made the starting 5 on 2 of 4 votes, compared to Davis’ 1. (Part of the rules stated that you could only take one player from any team.)

All of the buzz surrounding Anthony Davis, (who absolutely deserves every ounce of it) and the firestorm that has recently met Terrence Jones, even at times the questioning of Marquis Teague has lent to Kidd-Gilchrist motoring along under the radar.(save for an HBO documentary) But that is all changing very quickly as even the NBA draftboards are refelecting the young man’s rising stock. MKG is currently #9 on nbadraft.net’s consensus board and some scenarios have him going as high as #2, again behind Mr. Anthony Davis.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this Kidd is tough as nails and he’s gonna be champion of the world some (April 2nd, 2012) day.
