National signing day is 12 days away, so I’m going to do my best to keep you updated on most of the players we UK football fans should keep our eye on until signing day. As some know, we’ve lost a handful of recruits lately, but we’ve also stolen a few recruits from some of the more tradition rich football programs in the south which is always a major plus. We all need to realize that we are about to put together one of the best, if not THE best recruiting class ever at Kentucky. I know it’s not as impressive as most of the other SEC schools, but it’s still impressive for Kentucky.

Lamar Dawson 4* ILB – Mr. Football Lamar Dawson of Boyle County has set up his college announcement for 9 a.m. Feb. 2. He’s considering Kentucky, Tennessee, USC, Central Florida and Oregon. Many believe he’s UK bound, but don’t be surprised if he decides to head out of state.

Devin Lucien 4* WR – This California native is one of the top remaining receivers left uncommitted and UK is still in the running, but he looks like a UCLA lean after a recent visit. He holds offers from the likes of Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Texas A&M, UCLA and Cal. There is a chance we can land him, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Devin is expected to make an announcement on Jan. 30.

Chris Bryant 4* OL – This linemen from Chicago is highly rated and the Cats are making a late push and may be able to land a visit from Bryant before signing day. He has offers from Arizona, Illinois, Michigan and Pitt.

Antonio Poole 3* OLB – The Cincy Winton Woods product is still available and the Cats are certainly in the running. He has offers from Louisville, Purdue, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Texas A&M. It’s always nice to see the Cats dip there chip into a Cincy area that is consistently producing some of the better recruits across the country.

Demarius Rancifer 3* OLB – This sunshine state linebacker is still considering the Cats and has offers from Ole Miss, UCF, Southern Miss, West Virginia and Louisville. According to The Pensacola News Journal he hasn’t indicated a leader yet, but has one visit left and that’s with Southern Miss next weekend.

James Elliott 3* OL – Elliott is a former commit to Michigan, but decommited after the firing of Rich Rod and is a UK lean from my understanding. James is also from Florida and has offers from Louisville, Maryland, Iowa State, Kansas, USF and Vandy.

As I reported earlier, Louisville Eastern product, Jon Davis is expected to decommit from the Cats and commit to Louisville during his upcoming visit. Davis’s only reason for switching commitments would be because the Cats have 9 commitments from TE’s in this 2011 class, but don’t expect all 9 to be playing TE. Paducah Tilghman star, Josh Forrest says that he’s still committed to the Cats and canceled his visit to UCF.
