12 Things in 2012

As we embark on a new year, new expecatations follow close behind. They may be personal expectations such as finding a new job, buying a new home, or setting out to lose weight and get in shape. On the other hand, you may have sports related expecations that you desire for your favorite sports team to achieve. Here in the nation of blue, expectations always run high for our favorite Wildcats.

12 Things Cat Fans Want in 2012

12. A victory for the women’s hoops team over the Tennessee Volunteers this Thursday night. This will probably be the last time Kentucky will take on UT at home with Pat Summitt as their head coach, and with the way the ladies are playing, this has the makings for an intense match-up.

11. A victory over Indiana – As the season progresses it becomes more and more clear that I would like nothing more than for our Cats to get a re-match with the Hoosiers in the NCAA tournament. If the basketball gods are out there….make.it.happen….the game would be epic.

10. Marquis Teague becomes one of the most elite point guards in college basketball. The season has just reached it’s halfway mark, and Teague has the potential. All it takes is a string of games where it all clicks, and this team will nearly be unstoppable.

9. A trip to the College World Series for both our baseball and softball Cats. Both teams ended their seasons last year on a high note, and the potential is there for both groups to go far.

8. A superbowl ring for Randall Cobb – I know this isn’t priority but wouldn’t you love to see Cobb win it all this year with the Packers after putting his heart and soul into the Kentucky program for 3 years?

7. #GetShabazz - ’nuff said.

6. The return of Terrence Jones – After Saturday’s game against South Carolina, we all saw the T.J. we know and love. Will that version of Jones stick around? I hope that it will, and we’ll see Jones competing for the SEC player of the year.

5. Danny Trevathan – Drafted in the 2012 NFL draft and having a breakout rookie season in the fall, truly want to see this kid excel and can’t wait to watch him succeed and play on Sundays.

4. Anthony Davis – The number one pick in the 2012 NBA draft. This speaks for itself, he’ll be the number one pick, Kentucky is awesome once again, bow to da brow.

3. A return to a bowl game – Yes, I know a lot of Kentucky football fans are feeling down and out about Joker and the Cats, but a good step forward would be going back to a bowl game.

2. UK Hoops goes to their very first Final Four – The women’s team is as talented as we’ve seen put on that Hoops uniform. They play hard and bring it every game, and if they are ever going to reach their first Final Four, this is the year.

1. Bring home #8 – No explanation needed here. This is the right time, place and setup for Kentucky to bring home their 8th National Championship.

That’s it #BBN, my list for 2012. If you could add or change something on this list, what would it be?

GO.CATS.
