Western Kentucky University and head coach Rick Stansbury recently signed five-star center Charles Bassey for 2018-19.
“We’re happy to have Charles join our family,” Stansbury said after signing Bassey. “We’re excited about the talent of basketball player he is, but most importantly, the type of person and student he is. He’s a 3.9 GPA student with great character, and we look forward to having him in our program.”
Today, Stansbury added Bassey’s legal guardian to his coaching staff:
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU men’s basketball head coach Rick Stansbury announced Tuesday the hiring of Hennssy Auriantal as an assistant coach on his staff.
“We’re happy to have Hennssy join our program,” Stansbury said. “He brings coaching and playing experience at the D-I level in all areas. Besides that, he’s a terrific person and has a beautiful family. We’re excited to have him as part of our team.”
Auriantal brings both Division I playing and coaching experience to The Hill.
The Canada native previously worked as an assistant coach at Jackson State in Jackson, Miss., from 2013-15.
Auriantal played four seasons at guard at the University of Wisconsin from 1995-99, competing twice in the NCAA Tournament and once in the NIT. He graduated with a degree in kinesiology and was named to the Big Ten All-Academic Team in 1997 and 1999.
He also competed for the Canadian National Basketball Team the year after graduating from the Badgers program.
Auriantal and his wife, Nathalie, have two sons, Naevhen (3 years old) and Teylan (8 months).
