Joker Phillips was asked several times today about the makeup of his team and he mostly defended it by speaking of how young they are.
“Well, I mean, we got 72 freshmen and sophomores in this program. We just played a program that has 50 juniors and seniors in their program.”
Where are all the seniors and juniors at Kentucky?
“We got a lot of young kids in the program. You see them. You see them running around. For some reason or another, it just didn’t work out.”
I have seen many Kentucky fans try to defend Joker’s outcomes right now because of youth. At the end of the day, who is at fault for all of this youth?
I know there are a few good upperclassmen on the team right now, and Joker made sure to mention that when he was asked if it was because of bad recruiting.
“No, because we got some really good kids in our upperclassmen. Larry Warford, do you think that’s bad recruiting? Matt Smith, started three years here. We just don’t have a lot of the numbers in the senior and junior classes. We don’t have 50. 72 in freshmen and sophomores. Some reason or another, that’s the way it is.”
The current state of Kentucky Football is what it is, but what got this program to this point?
Here are a couple of questions for you:
Do you think this team would be better right now if there were more juniors and seniors?
Will Kentucky Football be better in 3 or 4 years with the youth they have now? That of course saying they stay at Kentucky that long.
If you think this program will be better with these young players, does that give Joker Phillips more time as head coach?
