If you weren’t one of the 50,398 fans (paid attendance and workers) at Commonwealth Stadium then you missed the most exciting display of football in a very long time.
Were you one of the 11,641 empty seats?
Mark Stoops has began the process of injecting SEC talent into the Kentucky football uniforms and I would hate for you to miss the metamorphosis while sitting on your couch in the air conditioning.
Sure it was hot Saturday, but so what?
Oh, ok, it was UT Martin and it was Labor Day weekend.
Whatever.
I am sure you are also one of the people that get on facebook and hammer the football program because they aren’t the basketball team. Maybe you just don’t believe the football team will ever be any good?
It is time to change your attitude about Kentucky Football.
Mark Stoops, Neal Brown and company are bringing in playmaking talent left and right and it was as evident as ever last weekend. Players like AJ Stamps, Braylon Heard, Patrick Towles, and the list goes on and on.
I think this team deserves you being in Commonwealth Stadium every time they run on to CM Newton Field.
That also means if you are at the stadium get in your seat early so the players will see a packed house going crazy when they run onto the field.
I asked Mark Stoops today what he thought about the crowd, and of course, he really appreciated the fans that were there to cheer on the Wildcats.
Here is what he had to say:
“I thought it was good. I know it was hot. I appreciate everybody coming. I know we have some obstacles with all the construction going on. I just greatly appreciate the support. Seemed like they were very enthusiastic early on. Appreciate it and encourage to keep everybody coming because we’re getting better. Our team appreciates them being there and some good things are ahead of us.”
Obviously Coach Stoops was a lot nicer than I am about the attendance.
Do you want to be a part of something exciting? Why not?
