The youth movement continued in game one of the 2013 season as UK had 11 first-time starters in the
game against the Hilltoppers, which is a school record for first-time starters in a game according to
records kept back to the 1993 season. A total of 10 newcomers (six true freshmen) saw action.
Nine different RedHawks made their first career start last Saturday at Marshall.
UK has an all-time record of 93-23-6 in home openers. The Wildcats have won seven consecutive home openers dating back to the 2006 season.

Although they never overlapped in their coaching careers, UK head coach Mark Stoops and Miami (Ohio) head coach Don Treadwell have familiar backgrounds. Stoops was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, while Treadwell spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Youngstown State University, winning an NCAA I-AA National Championship.
