Ryan Harrow has not only been a question mark on the floor for John Calipari, but it also seems to be some question about why he hasn’t been on the floor recently.
The University of Kentucky and John Calipari have stated that Harrow has been recovering from the flu and that he has been working with a strength coach to try and get back to the team.
Everything from mono to Calipari asking him to step-away to get his head straight have been rumored as possible reasons he hasn’t even been seen on the bench as late as last night’s win over Lafayette.
Adam Himmelsbach spoke to John Wall, former Kentucky point guard and close friend of Harrow’s, and it sounds like it could be more than just flu-like symptoms.
“He’s talented,” Wall said. “He’s just got to get used to it. He’s going to get used to it. He’ll be all right.”
It’s now time to wonder if Harrow’s absence is related to more than the flu. It’s fair to ask if this is related, at least partly, to the pressure, the expectations and the spotlight
With the lack of information Calipari has given about Harrow’s absence, it definitely leads to speculation about what is going on with him, because how long does it really take to get results from a blood test?
One noticeable occurrence during interviews with Ryan Harrow was how the topic of him being able to cope with John Calipari style of coaching keeps coming up and also how he reacts when questioned.
It was evident that Cal was very hard on Harrow during the Kentucky All-Access and many started to question if Harrow could take the scrutiny a point guard takes at Kentucky.
I guess we will see, although we don’t know when, if Harrow has battled through his “sickness” and can be the player we were led to believe he would be.
