Western Michigan men’s basketball player Joeviair Kennedy has been charged with murder following the shooting death of another student.
According to CBS Sports:
The maximum penalty is life in prison without parole.
Kennedy, 20, is also facing an armed robbery charge. Western Michigan has completely scrubbed the 6-foot-4 redshirt freshman from its website. He was averaging 3.1 points in 7.4 minutes for the Broncos.
“It’s a devastating tragedy for everybody involved,” Western Michigan coach Steve Hawkins said. “Lives were changed forever. We’re very, very respectful of that. And we’re very shook by the whole thing.”
