Video: UK Fall Sports Media Day

Today marked the annual Fall Sports Media Day for women’s volleyball and the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Listen to the coaches and players discuss their excitement and preparation for the upcoming season.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in program history, the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will begin the season ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25, slotting in at No. 16 to start 2015.

Kentucky is slated to play two matches against top-10 preseason teams in No. 8 Florida (Oct. 2, 7 p.m. ET, SECN+), and vs. No. 5 Texas A&M (Oct. 16, 7:30 p.m. ET, SECN+) for the first time since the 2010 season, the first under head coach Jon Lipsitz.

UK all together will play four preseason top-25 teams, and four more teams that received votes in the initial release by the NSCAA on Monday.

The first match of Kentucky’s season will be a top-20 showdown at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex, as the No. 16 Wildcats will host the No. 20 Huskies at 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network+. The second match of the 2015 opening weekend will see UK host San Diego State, who was receiving votes in Monday’s poll.

Kentucky vs. Washington will be one of three ranked vs. ranked, top-25 matchups on opening night, Aug. 21. Fans in attendance at the Bell Soccer Complex will receive free UK posters and trading cards in addition to other chances to win prizes during the game including free t-shirts.

Fans without season tickets can purchase them on UKathletics.com/tickets today and get a season ticket holder scarf as well. The scarf will serve as your paperless ticket for the 2015 year into all UK men’s and women’s soccer home games.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky volleyball team will host an open practice for fans from 10 a.m. – Noon on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Additionally, one of the state’s most popular radio shows, Kentucky Sports Radio with Matt Jones and Ryan Lemond, will broadcast live from Memorial Coliseum during Tuesday’s practice.

Fans wishing to attend the radio show and practice should park in Parking Structure 5 near Kennedy’s Bookstore. Doors to the Coliseum will be open at the UK Ticket Office and main door entrance.

Tickets will be on sale throughout the morning to fans wishing to purchase either season tickets, single-match tickets or ticket to the NCAA regional. The season-long marketing promotion will also be announced live on the show – so be sure to tune in and find out what you can win by simply cheering on the Wildcats this season. Posters and other promotional items will be available in Memorial Coliseum that day.

Single-match and season tickets for the 2015 campaign are on sale now. Season tickets begin at $35, and single-game ticket information can be found here, or by calling the UK Ticket Office at 800-928-CATS.

Tickets for the 2015 NCAA Lexington Regional are also on sale. Fans may purchase the tickets online or via phone or in person from the UK Ticket Office. Reserved All-Session general admission tickets of all ages are $14. Adult tickets (ages 19+) are priced at $12, while seniors (ages 65+) and youth (ages 3-18) are $8. A special group rate for 10 or more people are $10 for adults and $6 for youth/senior. Single-session tickets will go on sale at a later date.

Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 11-12. UK is one of four sites selected for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in Omaha, Neb., from the Lexington Region. This marks the third time in five seasons Memorial Coliseum will host this premier volleyball event.
