One of my favorite things about working tournaments like the Boys’ Sweet Sixteen and the NCAA Tournament is getting to meet people from around the state and country. I get a chance to talk with media members from other teams and experience their fans to see what makes each team unique. Today was no exception. Tennessee State visited Kentucky earlier this season. This time they rolled in deep- bringing their pep band, cheerleaders, and some enthusiastic fans.
While our pep band does a nice job, I had to keep myself from dancing and singing along with the Tigers throughout the game. They had Memorial grooving to Uptown Funk and their mascot broke out the Dougie during the mascot dance-off.
Even though the game didn’t go the way they had hoped, nothing could dampen the Tigers’ spirits. It was a fun afternoon in Memorial Coliseum hosting Tennessee State. I hope you get a chance to come out Sunday to cheer on the Cats and show some BBN hospitality to the Dayton Flyers.
In case you couldn’t be in Memorial today, enjoy this video of the Tigers’ pep band and cheerleaders performing during a timeout.
