Vandy Football’s Horrendous Tweet Took #Starpower

Earlier today, the official twitter account for Vanderbilt football tweeted out an image to get their fans fired up for the upcoming season. The slogan wording on the image, however, shouldn’t have been used. The tweet was deleted from the account, but you can see a screenshot of it below.

Why is “We Don’t Need Your Permission” so awful? Four former Vanderbilt football players have been charged and indicted for raping an unconscious woman in 2013. Recently, two of the accused have been reindicted after their initial trial was declared a mistrial due to errors in jury selection.

You’d think Vandy would try to steer clear of anything that might remind their fans and the sporting world about the horrible act four former players are accused of doing. We should expect Vandy announcing soon they’re reviewing their social media policy.
