USA Today took a look at the top 5 storylines of the college basketball season and of course, Kentucky Basketball is right at the top.
Scott Gleeson wants to know is Kentucky still Kentucky?
My guess is yes.
2. Is Kentucky still Kentucky? The Wildcats had a perfect season ruined in the Final Four, finishing 38-1 as one of the best teams to not win a national title. Then they lost seven players to the NBA draft, including top pick Karl-Anthony Towns. To make matters worse, coach John Calipari couldn’t haul in quite the same caliber recruiting class, mostly because some of the nation’s top prospects said no. Brandon Ingram (Duke), Cheick Diallo (Kansas), Jaylen Brown (California), Malik Newman (Mississippi State) and Stephen Zimmerman (UNLV) all skipped a future in Lexington. No matter. As a whole, UK has six five-star prospects on its roster. There will be no platoon system of two star-studded lineups this season, but the mix of talent figures to mesh well. Point guard Tyler Ulis and forward Alex Poythress will take on much larger roles, and explosive scoring guard Jamal Murray might be the biggest steal of the 2015 recruiting class. Skal Labissiere, an elite center prospect with unique versatility, and elite guard Isaiah Briscoe should follow the NCAA-to-NBA one-year plan. Upon closer inspection, there’s no shortage of talent and no reason to think Kentucky won’t again be in the national title mix.

It seems as if the national media theme is if Kentucky can replace a ton of NBA defections from last season’s roster.
Am I missing something?
John Calipari has done this every year and has made 4 of the last 5 final fours.
I guess they have to find something to write about.
