The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Men’s Basketball team wrapped up their opening week of play on Friday night as they hosted NAIA Division II #24 ranked St. Thomas University (STU). The Patriots would trail much of the 1st half, but a strong offensive showing in the 2nd half would allow UC to prevail over the Bobcats 66-52. With the win, the Patriots move to 2-0 on the season.
BY THE NUMBERS
· UC was led in scoring by Tony Bradley (Alton, IL), who had an impressive double-double on the night with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He went 11-14 from the free throw line in the game.
· Jessie Pernell (North Augusta, SC) added 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Patriots.
· Taylor Gover (Somerset, KY) chipped in 11 points as well on 2-3 shooting from behind the arc and 5-8 from the charity stripe.
· The Patriots held the Bobcats to just 1-11 (9.1%) from beyond the 3 point line on the night.
· UC again would dominate the boards outrebounding St. Thomas 37-20.

The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday November 4th as they host Ohio Christian University. Tipoff is set for 7 pm. Admission fees are waived with the donation of three canned goods.
