If you missed the news over the weekend, here is some information about the dedication of the newly-renovated softball complex including a photo gallery of the events:
UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart announced the new softball complex has been named John Cropp Stadium at a dedication ceremony held on Saturday. The 9.5 million dollar stadium features 1,500 seats, a large press box, two luxury suites and a first-class indoor hitting/fielding facility complete with a locker room, team lounge and offices.
Mr. Cropp has spent more than half a century in athletics, including the last 20-plus years as an administrator at Kentucky. He has worked with the Wildcat softball program since its inception in 1997.
A crowd including UK President Eli Capilouto, Hoops Coach Matthew Mitchell and Football Coach Mark Stoops as well as family, players and fans watched as a banner was removed revealing the stadium’s name. A reception was held following the ceremony.
