Tyler Thompson of KSR discovered recently that the University of Kentucky made a decision that will prevent sororities from attending Saturday’s home football game.
UK decided to make Saturday a mandatory training/recruiting day for sororities, which means they won’t be able to attend the football game.
As part of rush, sororities at UK are requiring pledges and members to attend philanthropy training on Saturday, meaning they will miss Kentucky’s opener. Disapponted to hear this, especially since fraternities are suspending activities that day so guys can go to the game.

If I were a member of a sorority at UK right now, I would be furious. Football team needs student support and not allowing female fans to go to the game while their male counterparts can is wrong.

UK is the one who made the call here, so I will correct that. Even more upsetting for female fans who want to support the team. https://t.co/e1SM8mX3fa

That doesn’t really seem like a good plan for boosting attendance at Kroger Field.
Larry Vaught says it’s just another example of mistakes that have been made by UK:
However, Kentucky officials do and it astounded me when Kentucky Sports Radio’s Tyler Thompson noted Sunday that UK sorority members would not be able to attend Saturday’s game because of a training/recruiting day Saturday mandated by UK officials — not the sororities. Apparently fraternities don’t face the same dilemma but I am not so old that I don’t know that a lack of sorority members at the game might dramatically reduce the number of fraternity members at a game or know that sororities cannot fight a decision made by UK officials.
I applaud Tyler Thompson for pointing this information out and expressing her disappointment in UK’s decision. Stoops should be livid, too, but he can’t say so. He gets his paycheck from UK.
To me, it’s just another example of the fight Kentucky football faces even from within to create a big-time program.
