UK Hoops Cruises Past Lipscomb 116-49

Bria Goss had 18 points to lead UK Hoops to a 116-49 victory over Lipscomb. Goss was 3-of-4 from behind the arc, tying her career-high with three 3-pointers. A school record eight Wildcats scored in double figures.  116 points are the second-most in school history.

Bria Goss on Kentucky’s offensive effort, “It says that we have worked on our offense this summer. We did a lot of offensive execution during the offseason and preseason and we are still doing a lot of offensive fundamentals, getting in the gym outside of practice. It’s kind of showing up now.”

DeNesha Stallworth scored 14 points. Janee Thompson recorded her second straight double-digit scoring game with 16 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Samarie Walker added 10 points and 14 rebounds for her second straight double-double. Jennifer O’Neill chipped in 11 points. Bernisha Pinkett and Linnae Harper rounded out the balanced attack, contributing 15 points and 12 points.

The Wildcats outrebounded Lipscomb 57-30 and forced 32 turnovers.

Coach Mitchell said the players played extremely hard tonight. “We had a good night, played together, played with a lot of hustle, a lot of effort. We are proud of the victory.”

Chandler Cooper led Lipscomb with 15 points.

UK Hoops heads to Middle Tennessee on Sunday, Nov. 24, to take on the Blue Raiders at 5 p.m. ET. Samarie Walker says Middle Tennessee will be a challenging environment to play in. “They have very tough players. They have a few returners. Ebony Rowe is still playing for them she is a really great player. We will just have to play hard and stay with it, even though the crowd is tough.”
