More about the game:
Slowly but surely Kentucky’s 2017-18 nonconference schedule is taking shape. On Wednesday afternoon, another game was revealed.
Kentucky will host Virginia Tech on Dec. 16 at Rupp Arena as part of a one-year deal. Game time and TV information has not been announced yet.
It’s the first time Kentucky has faced Virginia Tech since March 16, 1996, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats won that game 84-60 in Dallas and later claimed their sixth national championship.
The Wildcats are 3-1 all-time against the Hokies and 1-1 against Virginia Tech in Lexington. UK has never faced VT at Rupp Arena. Coach Cal is 2-0 against Virginia Tech in his Hall of Fame career.
Led by Buzz Williams, who will be entering his fourth season as the Hokies’ head coach next season, Virginia Tech is in the midst of a promising upward trajectory as a men’s basketball program.
