Four-star point guard and Kentucky signee Tyler Ulis is preparing to play this weekend in the Chicago Elite Classic.
Ulis and No. 2 Marian Catholic will face No. 6 Etiwanda (Calif.) at 1 p.m. Saturday December 7.
This is a big weekend for Kentucky reruits. Trey Lyles and Devin Booker are playing in the Marshall County Hoopfest and Ulis will be playing in Chicago.
Every summer since Tyler Ulis crashed onto the local basketball scene, rumors swirled that he would leave Marian Catholic and transfer to a Public League powerhouse. It never happened, but Spartans coach Mike Taylor couldn’t help himself from getting in a little dig at the Chicago Elite Classic press conference. “You finally got Tyler downtown,” Taylor said. “We will let you have him for a day.” Ulis, a Kentucky recruit, is one of many star attractions at the Chicago Elite Classic. The top four players in the senior class are on hand: Young’s Jahlil Okafor, Curie’s Cliff Alexander, Ulis and Normal U-High’s Keita Bates-Diop, an Ohio State recruit.
