Here is an excerpt from ESPN:

Former Tulane wing Kam Williams, one of the best shooters in the transfer portal, told ESPN on Friday that he has committed to Mark Pope and Kentucky.

“Not many people get opportunities like this, so I wanted to pull the trigger fast,” Williams said. “More people are waiting to fill that spot, so I had to take advantage.”

Williams, a 6-8 foot, 19-year-old freshman, averaged 9.3 points per game this season, shooting 41% from 3. He says he also considered a long list of schools including Florida, Louisville, Baylor, Texas, LSU, Texas Tech, Arkansas, USC and others. He did not visit Kentucky, as they are still playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Williams says that, ultimately, Pope’s play style, roster needs at his position, and Kentucky’s tradition tipped the scales in their favor.
