Trinity’s Fourth Quarter Rally Enough to Outlast Scott County for State Crown

The Trinity Shamrocks used a big 12-2 run late in the 4th quarter and then cruised to their 2nd boys state championship in school history with a 50-40 win over Scott County.

The Shamrocks, who pulled off a wild win last night over Campbell County, kept their poise as they battled back from a fast 7-0 start by the Cardinals to begin the game.

David Johnson was there throughout the game to hit big shots as he drilled 3 threes in the 1st half which included one at the buzzer to tie the game at the half at 22.

Scott County had a nice third quarter as they took a 33-29 lead into the 4th quarter with a couple of big plays by Lorenzo Williams.

The 4th quarter was all Trinity’s Johnson and Stan Turnier as they hit big shot after big shot to ultimately decide the 2019 championship.

Trinity outscored Scott County 21-7 in the 4th and it was all over but the crying.

Trinity’s David Johnson was named the Most Valuable Player.
