Trinity Falls to Scott Co. in Jock Sutherland Classic

No. 3 Scott County defeated No. 1 Trinity 70-65 in the Jock Sutherland Classic at Lafayette High School on Saturday. Teddy Ware led the Cardinals with a career-high 29 points. He was 9-12 from the field and lights out from beyond the arc, shooting  7-8.

Scott Co. held a 37-18 lead at the half. Trinity closed the gap to within 6, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as Ware and Gilbert refused to go away.

Trent Gilbert finished with 17 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Matt Murray and Tony Martini added 9 points each. Martini also grabbed 12 boards. Raekwon Long chipped in 6 points and 3 rebounds to go with 4 blocks for the Cardinals.

Trinity had four players in double-figures, led by Michael Stafford with 16 points. Raymond Spalding scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Trey Ivory added 12 points as did Craig Owens who also pulled in 10 rebounds for a double-double for the Shamrocks.

Scott Co. hosts Lexington Catholic Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Trinity hosts Seneca on Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET
