Ticket Sales Indicate a Big Blue Takeover in Memphis

If ticket sales are any indication, UCLA will be playing a true road game tomorrow night in Memphis.

According to ticket site Vivid Seats, 20.5% of ticket sales for the South Regional have been from the state of Kentucky. California isn’t in the top 5.

Here’s a look at the numbers:



That’s the takeaway from data released to For The Win by ticket reseller Vivid Seats, which show from where Sweet 16 and Elite Eight tickets are being purchased. With 20.5% of sales for the South Regional coming from Kentucky, the Bluegrass State has the highest rate of any state not actually hosting a regional with the exception of Kansas’ presence in border city Kansas City, Mo.

Now, no one should be surprised that Kentucky fans travel well, especially to a neighboring state. But the twist here is that Kentucky is the No. 2 seed in the region — which also features fellow history powers No. 1 seed North Carolina and No. 3 seed UCLA. If the Wildcats get by the Bruins, expect crowd support to continue anyway against the higher-seeded Tar Heels.
