Things got heated in the WNBA last night.
Officials allowed a physical game to boil over into a brawl between the Indiana Fever and Connecticut Sun.
Tempers flared multiple times during the game, including a skirmish involving Caitlin Clark and several Sun players. Everyone, except the officials, felt Sun guard Marina Mabrey should have been ejected following this shot on Clark, who was poked in the eye by Jacy Sheldon:

After a review, referees gave Mabrey a technical foul but allowed her to stay in the game. Things escalated from there.

With officials failing to take control of the game, it culminated with Fever guard Sophie Cunningham taking Sheldon out on a layup attempt late in the final quarter:
“I think it was pretty obvious that stuff was brewing,” Fever coach Stephanie White said after the game. “When officials don’t get control of the ball game, when they allow that stuff to happen…it’s been happening all season long, all season long. It’s not just this game.”
