Recently Joker Phillips said that people around the state confuse him with his newest rival and old buddy, Charlie Strong. “Charlie goes places in Kentucky, and they call him Joker,” Phillips said. “I go to some places that they call me Charlie. So I guess we all look alike.” The coaches may look alike but one thing is for sure, the football programs are anything but alike.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
Although some fans complain about where the UK football program is at, it could be a lot worse. Just look up the street and take a look at the birds for the past few years. In comparison, back to back to back trips to the Music City bowl don’t look too bad. And with Joker holding the reigns I think it’s a sure bet that we’ll see the Wildcats move forward much faster than our instate rivals.
As announced today, we’ll find out how the two new coaches will compare soon enough. September 4th at 3:30pm marks the beginning the the Joker era and there’s not a higher profile game on the current schedule than what will be his first as head coach. Although it seems a long ways out, the countdown officially begins.
