Storied Big Men Give Thoughts about Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere

Kentucky.com’s Jerry Tipton has taken the time to speak to several former big men about Kentucky’s Skal Labissiere’s recent struggles.

Sam Bowie, Dan Issel, Rick Robey, Len Elmore, Jay Bilas, and Kenny Walker all gave their thoughts about Skal to Tipton and all had something to say about toughness and being able to battle in the paint.

You can check out what they said by clicking here, but the quotes I noticed the most were the last.

“There’s no doubt in my mind he can do it,” Issel said. “He has all the talent in the world. … I think he’s going to be fine. It’s not something you learn overnight.”

That’s pretty much what Bowie said at the dry cleaners. With the expectation of Labissiere enjoying a long and lucrative pro career in the future, Bowie said he told that clerk, “Everybody’s complaining about Skal. They won’t have to be worrying about him and complaining about him next year, because he won’t be here.”

In other words, Skal will eventually get it, but how soon will it be? As Bowie said, he only has until March to figure it out wearing Kentucky blue.
