UK Hoops defeated Central Michigan University 96-74 on Sunday in Memorial Coliseum in front of a crowd of 4,813. The Cats were led by DeNesha Stallworth with 21 points. Janee Thompson scored a career-high 17 points to go along with 6 steals. Samarie Walker finished with a double-double, adding 10 points and 11 rebounds. Five Wildcats scored in double-figures. UK Hoops has scored 90 or more points in three straight games. The last time UK did that was in the 1990-91 season. The Cats totaled 21 assists and forced 11 Central Michigan turnovers. UK registered a season-high six blocked shots.
Senior Samantha Drake went down with a knee injury in the first half and returned to the bench on crutches.
Coach Mitchell on Drake: “We will get an MRI tomorrow. We are very concerned about her. It was a tough fall. She clearly couldn’t come back in the game. It was not a little bruise or bump. We will have to get her an MRI tomorrow, and just pray for the best.”
Crystal Bradford led Central Michigan with 23 points.
UK improved to 4-0 on the season, giving the Wildcats their first 4-0 start since 2011-12 and fourth time in the Matthew Mitchell era. Kentucky has won 40 straight regular season games vs. non-conference opponents at home.
