Skal Labissiere will not be the next McDonald’s All-American to commit to the University of Kentucky.

Even if the 2015 star pledges to the Wildcats on Thursday, he will be ineligible to participate in the annual high school all-star event.

The McDonald’s All-American event has strict policies in place that must be met in order to qualify for the game. By playing for Reach  Your Dream Prep, Labissiere will no be eligible for the McDonald’s game.

Here are details from SportingNews.com:

He said a student who the TSSAA deems ineligible at member schools is free to participate in a home-school league, but it would not make him eligible for any of the state’s postseason play or awards, or change his eligibility status at another member school.

That means Skal can play his senior season but essentially Reach Your Dream Prep’s games don’t count for anything other than giving the 6-11 center a stage to play on.

It also means he won’t be eligible to participate in the McDonald’s All-American game — a hallmark event reserved for the nation’s top seniors.

Only high school students enrolled in private or public accredited high schools who play on private or public varsity teams are eligible for nomination, the game’s Nomination and Selection Chair Administrator, Terri Lynn Wootten told Sporting News in an email.

Labissiere’s status as a student at Lausanne disqualifies him from being nominated as a home-schooled student.
